by | Aug 7, 2025

President Trump on Thursday named Stephen Miran, chair of the Council of Economic Advisors, to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, filling the seat vacated by Adriana Kugler, who resigned last Friday. Miran will serve the remainder of Kugler’s term, which ends on January 31, 2026.

Trump signaled that a permanent pick for the full 14-year term may come later, describing Miran’s appointment as temporary. “He has been with me from the beginning of my Second Term, and his expertise in the World of Economics is unparalleled,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “He will do an outstanding job — Congratulations Stephen!”
