Update: A U.S. judge overseeing Alex Jones’ bankruptcy voiced doubts Thursday about the reported sale of Jones’ website Infowars to the satire publication The Onion, as reported by the Associated Press.
While claims emerged that Infowars was sold at auction to The Onion, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Lopez, during an emergency hearing, raised concerns about the auction process. This included a $3.5 million bid from another party, with a court-appointed trustee acknowledging that The Onion’s bid was not the highest offer.
“We’re all going to an evidentiary hearing and I’m going to figure out exactly what happened,” Judge Lopez stated at the hearing. “No one should feel comfortable with the results of this auction,” he added.
Jones responded to the hearing’s developments during a broadcast on X, arguing that the sale remains neither finalized nor approved by the judge, despite widespread media reports. Broadcasting on X (@AJNlive) and Rumble under the Alex Jones Network banner, Jones predicted that Judge Lopez might order a redo of the loopauction, especially given past reprimands of opposing counsel by the judge.
