The Supreme Court declined to support President Trump’s effort to maintain a freeze on foreign aid, upholding a lower court order that mandates the swift disbursement of up to $2 billion owed to contractors for completed work.
In a decision with four dissents, the justices denied Trump’s request to overturn the trial court’s ruling, which impacts funds controlled by the U.S. Agency for International Development and the State Department. While the majority left the order in place, they instructed the trial judge to set new deadlines for the payments since the original deadline had expired.
