Three officials from the U.S. Secret Service communications office, including chief spokesman Anthony Guglielmi, have been suspended, removed from their duties, and stripped of their security clearances. Sources say investigators are examining how classified or sensitive information reached the media.
The three were escorted out of Secret Service headquarters in Washington on Monday and designated “do not admit,” barring them from agency facilities. Sources indicate the FBI and CIA are involved in the probe, suggesting it goes beyond a routine internal matter.
The Secret Service confirmed only that three non-law enforcement staff members were placed on leave pending review by the Office of Professional Responsibility.
The suspensions come amid a series of leak probes targeting the Secret Service and Trump’s protective detail. Personnel were previously questioned after details emerged about Trump declining to use a Qatari-gifted aircraft for the Turkey departure. That earlier probe was initiated from inside the White House, with FBI Director Kash Patel involved in getting it underway.
Separately, a Secret Service agent on Vice President JD Vance’s detail was placed on leave in July over suspected leaks about the vice president’s security and travel schedule; that case remains open.
Guglielmi has faced prior criticism for his public responses to Secret Service failures. After the Butler, Pennsylvania, assassination attempt on Trump, he quickly dismissed reports that resources had been diverted to a same-day Jill Biden event in nearby Pittsburgh. Later congressional findings showed far more personnel assigned to the Biden stop. He also denied claims that then-detail leader Sean Curran had sought and been denied additional protective resources, denials that subsequent reporting undercut.
