Ric Grenell, the Trump‑appointed president of the Trump Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, is expected to leave his leadership post Monday as the iconic venue prepares to shut down for a roughly two‑year overhaul, Axios has learned.
Grenell, who took the helm in February 2025 during a broader shake‑up driven by President Trump, will remain connected to the institution as an unpaid consultant while Matt Floca, the center’s vice president of facilities operations, is set to take over.
The leadership change comes as the Kennedy Center finalizes plans for a comprehensive shutdown beginning in July to undertake what Trump has described as a full “Construction, Revitalization, and Complete Rebuilding,” promising a “new and spectacular Entertainment Complex” and a grand reopening designed to surpass anything before. Congress approved $257 million in funding for the reconstruction last year.
