Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian discussed the escalating crisis in Syria during a phone call, with both leaders expressing support for the Syrian government’s efforts to restore stability.

“The focus was on the escalating situation in the Syrian Arab Republic,” the statement said. It emphasized Russia’s “unconditional support” for the Syrian government’s efforts to restore constitutional order and achieve political, economic, and social stability.

President Pezeshkian expressed Iran’s readiness to cooperate with Russia to stabilize the region and address the Syrian crisis. According to the Iranian government’s website, Pezeshkian attributed the recent unrest to a coordinated effort by the United States and Israel.

“We believe that the recent events are part of a dangerous plan by the United States and the Zionist regime to disrupt the geopolitical landscape of the region in favor of Zionists,” Pezeshkian stated. He added that this plan would fail due to the unity and cooperation of regional nations.
