President Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and the Trump Organization, filed a federal lawsuit in Miami against the Internal Revenue Service and the Treasury Department, seeking $10 billion in damages over the unauthorized disclosure of their tax returns.
The suit stems from leaks in 2019 and 2020 by a former IRS contractor, which resulted in the private tax information being provided to the New York Times, ProPublica, and other outlets.
The disclosures were made by Charles Littlejohn, a former Booz Allen contractor, who pleaded guilty to unauthorized release of tax returns and was sentenced in 2024 to five years in prison.
