President Trump said he held a lengthy and “excellent” telephone call Wednesday with Chinese President Xi Jinping, describing discussions that covered trade, military issues, Taiwan, the Russia-Ukraine war, Iran, and expanded economic cooperation between the two countries.

In a Truth Social post, Trump said the conversation also addressed China’s purchase of U.S. oil and gas, potential increases in agricultural imports, including soybeans, airplane engine deliveries, and preparations for his planned April trip to China. Trump said China is considering lifting soybean purchases to 20 million tons for the current season and has committed to 25 million tons for next season.

Trump described his personal relationship with Xi as “extremely good” and emphasized the importance of maintaining strong ties, saying he expects “many positive results” in U.S.-China relations over the next three years of his presidency.
