The Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has announced that United States Navy Fleet Master Chief David L. Isom will assume the role of Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman (SEAC) later this summer, succeeding SEAC Troy E. Black.
Isom, a seasoned Navy SEAL and current Command Senior Enlisted Leader for U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, brings a distinguished background in joint and special operations to the position. His service spans combat deployments across Operation Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom, with operational experience throughout the Pacific and the Horn of Africa.
Enlisting in the Navy in 1987 as a Machinist’s Mate, Isom later completed Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL Training (BUD/S) and went on to serve in a wide range of leadership roles across Theater Special Operations Commands. He has previously held senior enlisted leadership positions at Special Operations Command North, Special Operations Command Pacific, and now Indo-Pacific Command.
The position of SEAC, established in 2005, is the highest-ranking enlisted role in the U.S. Armed Forces. The SEAC advises the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs on matters related to the joint enlisted force and plays a vital role in shaping policy affecting servicemembers across the military.
