The Kremlin suggested Monday that a future meeting between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin could materialize once the right conditions align, signaling Moscow’s preference for those conditions to be met “sooner rather than later.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia remains open to a summit and is waiting for the moment when circumstances make it possible, cautioning that the timing is still impossible to predict. He was responding to questions about recent comments from Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who argued that Moscow had missed an opening for talks in Budapest.
Peskov said Russia continues to expect a face-to-face meeting at some point and noted that extensive groundwork will be required before any summit can be finalized.
