Attorneys representing Hunter Biden are scheduled to appear in federal court in Los Angeles on Wednesday, aiming to secure the dismissal of the nine tax-related charges leveled against him by special counsel David Weiss.
Judge Mark Scarsi is set to preside over the proceedings, during which arguments will be presented on a series of motions filed by Hunter Biden's legal team. Hunter is not expected to attend the hearing.
Following the tax-related charges, back taxes and penalties were settled by a third party, identified by ABC News as Hunter Biden's attorney and confidant, Kevin Morris. The charges encompass six misdemeanors and three felonies, including alleged tax evasion and the submission of a false return, carrying a maximum penalty of 17 years imprisonment.
In addition to the tax-related charges, Hunter Biden has entered a plea of not guilty to three further firearm-related charges lodged by Weiss' office in Delaware. It is anticipated that this case will proceed to trial in early June.
Judge Scarsi has set a trial commencement date for June 20.
