Hunter Biden is declining to participate in a public House hearing slated for March 20, where he was invited to appear alongside some of his former business associates who have been vocal critics of him.
Neither Hunter nor his attorney could attend the hearing on March 20 due to a court date scheduled for the following day in California. “The scheduling conflict is the least of the issues, however,” stated Biden's attorney Abbe Lowell in a letter to House Oversight Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., on Wednesday.
Lowell wrote in the letter that “If you are serious about pursuing this oversight purpose in a legitimate and bipartisan fashion, you would hold a hearing with relatives of President Trump about whom you indicated you ‘would ask.' If you do, Mr. Biden would consider an invitation for that event.”
Lowell was alluding to how during the deposition, Hunter Biden inquired about the financial dealings of the Trump family, while Comer indicated that he would also inquire about this with the Trump family.
James Comer has responded to the letter from Hunter’s attorneys, stating that next week’s hearing is moving forward and Hunter is expected to participate.
