Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google and one of the world’s wealthiest individuals, had dinner with President-elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday, marking a striking shift from his 2016 criticism of Trump’s election victory, which he had called “deeply offensive.”
The meeting underscores the growing engagement between Trump and tech moguls, as industry leaders adjust to his return to power. Brin’s visit comes on the heels of announcements that Meta and Amazon donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund and amid Elon Musk’s prominent presence in Trump’s political orbit.
Brin initiated the meeting, facilitated by Instagram influencer Jessica Reed Kraus, known as HouseInhabit. “It was Sergey who reached out,” the source said. “Of course, Trump said yes. These are the biggest companies on the planet, and he takes them very seriously.”
Brin’s $146 billion fortune and his former ties to Nicole Shanahan—Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s running mate—add intrigue to his Mar-a-Lago visit. In contrast to his past stance, including a video in which he expressed dismay over Trump’s 2016 win as “conflicting with many of our values,” Brin’s dinner signals a dramatic shift.
Trump, who has accused Google of election interference, has been vocal about his grievances with the tech giant. On his Truth Social platform, he called Google a “Crooked, Election Interference Machine” and vowed consequences.
