Ghislaine Maxwell’s attorney told Congress he advised her to take the Fifth during her Oversight Committee appearance Monday but is prepared to speak “fully and honestly” if granted clemency by President Trump.
Attorney David Oscar Markus said Maxwell alone can provide the full account of Jeffrey Epstein’s actions and insisted both Trump and Clinton are innocent of wrongdoing.
Markus told the Oversight Committee that Maxwell wants to answer questions but must remain silent due to a pending habeas petition challenging the fairness of her conviction. Last year, under questioning by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, Maxwell denied ever witnessing inappropriate behavior by Epstein or his associates.
