German investigators have identified all seven members of the unit accused of carrying out explosives attacks on the Nord Stream pipelines in September 2022. Arrest warrants have been issued for six Ukrainian nationals, while the seventh suspect reportedly died in December 2024 in eastern Ukraine while fighting Russian forces.

The group allegedly destroyed multiple Nord Stream pipes using the sailing yacht Andromeda, which traveled from Rostock to the Baltic Sea. The unit consisted of a skipper, a coordinator, an explosives expert, and four divers. One diver reportedly joined the group later and is suspected of having previously attempted a separate attack on another Russian gas pipeline. One member, also a Ukrainian soldier, received military training last year at the Bundeswehr base in Wildflecken.

Investigators say the operation may have been facilitated by Ukrainian authorities. The suspects traveled through Poland to Germany using original Ukrainian passports containing false names. One suspect was reportedly transported from Poland to Ukraine in a vehicle belonging to the Ukrainian military attaché to avoid arrest. Last week, German prosecutors arrested the alleged coordinator in Italy; he is expected to be extradited to Germany.
