A group opposing Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s nomination as Secretary of Health and Human Services has been criticized for accepting unverifiable petition signatures, including fake entries. Widely cited by media outlets, the group is linked to major donors such as Bill Gates, George Soros, and Mark Zuckerberg.
The “Committee to Protect Health Care,” cited by outlets such as NBC News, published an open letter signed by thousands of supposed doctors condemning President Trump’s decision to nominate Kennedy, calling it “reckless.”
However, the petition has no verification process for signatories. Breitbart News demonstrated the flaw by successfully signing as “Dr. Donald Duck, OG” from Disney World, Florida, claiming a specialty in podiatry. Others, including fitness influencer Jillian Michaels and provocateur Alex Jones, have reportedly tested the system with similar results.
The Committee to Protect Health Care is a 501(c)(4) organization that is not required to disclose its donors. Its affiliated 501(c)(3) charity, The Committee to Protect Health Care Fund, does reveal donors, showing financial backing from the left-leaning Sixteen Thirty Fund and Hopewell Fund. Both funds are managed by Arabella Advisors, a major philanthropy management firm linked to high-profile donors like Bill Gates, George Soros, and Mark Zuckerberg, according to the Capital Research Center.
Critics have labeled the group as an “Astroturf” organization, referring to fake grassroots efforts designed to create the illusion of widespread public support.
