A former top Trump Administration official, Makan Delrahim, is in advanced talks to join the newly merged Paramount Global in a senior legal role. Delrahim, who served as Assistant Attorney General for the DOJ’s Antitrust Division during President Trump’s first term, has also advised David Ellison for several years.
Since leaving government, Makan Delrahim has been a partner at Latham & Watkins, leading its global antitrust and competition practice and playing a key role in the $8.4 billion Skydance-Paramount merger. His appointment could indicate Paramount is preparing for additional major transactions.
Recent reports suggest Ellison, now fully in control post-merger, may pursue a Warner Bros. Discovery acquisition. Such a deal would face significant antitrust scrutiny from the DOJ and FTC, placing Delrahim at the center of potential regulatory challenges.
