A federal grand jury has indicted former U.S. Postal Service letter carrier Damon Matai Seei, 34, of Payson, Utah, on charges of unlawfully secreting, destroying, and delaying mail. Prosecutors allege he threw away approximately 300 mail-in ballots destined for registered voters in Eagle Mountain, Utah, ahead of the June 23, 2026, primary election.
According to court documents, on June 3, 2026, Seei was assigned to deliver mail that included hundreds of official ballots along with other correspondence. Instead of delivering the items, he allegedly discarded them in a dumpster located in a church parking lot. He was arrested and arraigned this week at the Orrin G. Hatch U.S. Courthouse in Utah. His next court appearance is set for November 30.
The case was jointly investigated by the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General and Homeland Security Investigations, and is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah.
