The FBI raided a Beverly Hills mansion Tuesday morning as part of an investigation into former Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California.
The search follows an earlier FBI operation in August, when federal agents searched Swalwell’s Washington, D.C., home and seized his electronic devices at San Francisco International Airport.
Swalwell resigned from Congress in April and withdrew from California’s gubernatorial race after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct, including rape. At least five women, including a former staffer, have made allegations against him.
The latest raid comes as federal authorities investigate the sexual misconduct allegations. The White House on Monday declassified FBI records concerning Swalwell’s past relationship with Christine Fang, a suspected Chinese intelligence operative. According to the released records, Swalwell told FBI agents he had “physical relations” with Fang on several occasions. He was interviewed by the FBI about the relationship in May 2015 and March 2016.
