Sen. Rand Paul released additional pages from Dr. Anthony Fauci’s 2015–2019 diary Wednesday, revealing disparaging private remarks about President Trump, including a January 2019 entry in which Fauci wrote that Trump “Should be impeached.”
In a January 20, 2017 entry, written the day after Trump’s inauguration, Fauci wrote that the president “is acting amaxingly unpresidential!”, a noted misspelling. Two years later, Fauci wrote that Trump “is acting more and more bizarre” and added, “Should be impeached, but Dems are rightfully concerned that this will galvanize his base.”
The diary entries also detail Fauci’s private assessment of a 2015 World Health Organization Ebola vaccine study. Although Fauci publicly praised the study, he privately described its design as “terribly flawed,” writing, “We cannot criticize the study since that is exactly what the press is looking for and that will create a tension between HHS and WHO. HHS is too stupid to realize that.” He also wrote that the data were “not statistically significant” but described the vaccine itself as “inherently good and effective.”
Other entries document a ransomware attack that encrypted files Fauci had stored following the anthrax attacks, his hosting of China’s top public health officials at NIH, and his skepticism over classified warnings about Chinese efforts to steal technology and foreign bioterror programs. Weeks before the world learned of COVID-19, the National Security Council called Fauci into a SCIF for a meeting about Chinese genetics capabilities in Africa. Fauci wrote that he attended because of his “knowledge and standing and because I am Tony Fauci.”
