DHS Spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin to Depart Agency

by | Feb 17, 2026

Tricia McLaughlin, spokesperson for DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, is leaving the department next week, officials said. She is expected to notify colleagues of her plans Tuesday.

McLaughlin previously served in the first Trump administration at the Treasury Department under Steven Mnuchin and at the State Department on arms control. She also worked on TSA operations during the government shutdown, Coast Guard Caribbean drug interdictions, and FEMA’s disaster response.

A former top communications aide to Vivek Ramaswamy and Mike DeWine, she became a key figure in defending the administration’s immigration enforcement strategy, describing public media engagement as a critical “PR war” on the issue.
