DHS committee planned to “quietly make democracy work” to combat political dissent: Deep State Diaries 4

by | Jun 25, 2024

Following its legal victory in dismantling the Department of Homeland Security “Homeland Intelligence Experts Group,” America First Legal has released the fourth set of internal meeting notes, exclusively obtained through litigation. This release is part 4 of the #DeepStateDiaries series.

The latest installment uncovers discussions within the Brennan-Clapper intelligence committee that acknowledge the existence of a Deep State. According to the notes, this entity works “quietly” to “make democracy work” amidst perceived threats of “domestic terrorism,” which they equate with supporters of President Trump.

During a meeting in September, the group discussed the “Administration DT Strategy and DHS Role in Countering DT” (domestic terrorism). The notes reveal the group's perspective that domestic terrorism predominantly stems from Trump supporters, highlighting their commitment to countering this threat to “rebuild faith in the federal government.” This indicates a willingness to act against the will of the American electorate as expressed through their representatives.

This revelation contrasts sharply with The Washington Post's slogan, “Democracy Dies in Darkness,” suggesting instead that secrecy and covert operations are deemed essential by the Deep State for maintaining democracy.
