Argentina Requests Extradition of Nicolás Maduro

by | Feb 4, 2026

Argentine judge Sebastián Ramos has signed an extradition request asking the United States to transfer Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in connection with a case in Argentina concerning crimes against humanity. Ramos said it was necessary for Maduro to be extradited so he could testify in the case.

In September 2024, a court in Buenos Aires granted a request from the country’s Attorney General’s Office to issue an arrest warrant for Maduro, based on a complaint from a non-governmental organization accusing him of alleged human rights violations. Ramos later forwarded the request to Interpol.
