Witkoff to Hold Talks on Russia-Ukraine and Iran Nuclear Deal

by | Feb 2, 2026

President Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, will meet leaders from Russia and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday and Thursday, and is set to hold talks with Iranian officials in Istanbul on Friday, a White House official said.

Witkoff is scheduled to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and IDF Chief of Staff Gen. Eyal Zamir in Jerusalem on Tuesday before traveling to Abu Dhabi for trilateral talks on Russia-Ukraine tensions. He will then move to Turkey for discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on a potential nuclear deal, the first such U.S.-Iran meeting in months. The talks are the result of recent diplomatic efforts by Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar.

Iranian officials signaled readiness for diplomacy while warning against coercion. “Diplomacy is incompatible with pressure, intimidation, and force. We hope that its results will soon become evident,” Araghchi said Monday.
