White House visited by Hunter’s lawyers days before he defied subpoena, according to visitor logs

Hunter Biden's legal team visited the White House days before he defied a congressional subpoena, leading critics to question potential coordination between the two parties.

Hunter Biden's attorney, Abbe Lowell, and Anthony Bernal, a senior aide to First Lady Jill Biden, were both present at the White House on December 11 in the East Wing, as indicated by White House visitor logs.

An entry in the log suggests that Lowell met with Bernal, although the White House insisted that the log entry pertained to a White House Hanukkah reception and that no discussions regarding Hunter Biden were supposedly conducted.

The reception occurred just two days prior to Hunter Biden defying a House subpoena for a transcribed interview, which led to minor commotion at the Capitol when he asserted his innocence during an impromptu press conference.

Hunter Biden eventually cooperated with House investigators two months later. Bernal was also subpoenaed a month earlier by the House Oversight Committee as part of their inquiry into Biden's handling of classified documents.

The committee identified Bernal as an individual who accessed classified material at the Penn Biden Center before their official discovery there in November 2022.

Bernal, colloquially referred to as First Lady Jill Biden's “work husband,” has garnered notoriety in the White House, where allegations of bullying and sexual harassment have circulated for years.

The aide, who has been with Jill Biden since 2008, is often perceived as untouchable due to his close relationship with the first family.
