US Strikes IRGC Targets in Iran

by | Sep 1, 2026

U.S. Central Command announced that American forces began striking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran at 12 p.m. ET today.

The strikes follow recent IRGC attempts to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and American service members deployed in the region.

President Trump confirmed the operation on Truth Social, saying the U.S. is “as we speak, striking Iranian Targets near the Strait of Hormuz.” He called the strikes large and powerful, in retaliation for Iran’s failed attempt to place sea mines in the Strait and its launch of eight missiles at a U.S. military base in Jordan, all of which were intercepted. He warned that any Iranian retaliation would bring an even harder response, with a far larger attack “waiting in the wings.”
