President Trump’s second term has started on a high note, with his net approval rating reaching a record-breaking +14, according to Rasmussen Reports. The latest Presidential Tracking Poll reveals 54% of likely U.S. voters approve of Trump’s job performance, including 53% of Democrats—a milestone that surpasses his previous high of +10 recorded during his first term.
The poll, conducted over two days with approximately 829 likely voters, comes from the conservative-leaning Rasmussen Reports, which will release a three-day rolling average on January 23 and a five-day rolling average on January 27. Rasmussen’s full sample of 1,500 likely voters carries a margin of error of +/- 2.5 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
This surge in approval is bolstered by Republican control of both the House and Senate, giving Trump a stronger position to advance his agenda compared to his first term. Notably, Trump has made significant gains among traditionally Democratic constituencies. Rasmussen’s polling shows 49% of Black voters and 72% of Hispanic voters approve of Trump, alongside 57% of women and 48% of independent voters.
Trump’s second inauguration followed a decisive electoral mandate in 2024, where he improved his vote share in all but two states compared to 2020. Exit polls, such as one from Wisconsin published by NBC, show a 13% increase in Black voter support for Trump since the previous election. Congressional elections also reflected his influence, with 12 of the 17 GOP members who voted to impeach him no longer in office.
