Trump to Hold High-Level Meeting on Ukraine Crisis, Aid Suspension

by | Mar 3, 2025

President Trump will hold a meeting Monday afternoon to discuss the next steps regarding the crisis with Ukraine, including a suspension of U.S. military aid, according to a U.S. official and a source with knowledge of the meeting.

Trump and his allies have been increasing pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following their tense Oval Office meeting last week.

Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, and other senior officials are expected to participate in the meeting, the sources said.

Waltz told Fox News on Monday that time is not on Zelensky’s side, saying, “The American people’s patience is not unlimited, their wallets are not unlimited, and our stockpiles and munitions are not unlimited. So the time to talk is now.” He added that to resolve the crisis, Zelensky must express regret for his public dispute with Trump in the Oval Office last Friday, agree to sign the minerals deal, and show readiness to engage in peace talks with Russia.

Trump has been pushing for a ceasefire in Ukraine as a precursor to negotiations, but Zelensky remains resistant to an unconditional truce.

Russia has not officially advocated for a ceasefire, but Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Sunday that Trump’s “rapidly changing” foreign policy “largely coincides with our vision.”
