Trump to Address World Economic Forum With Major Foreign Policy Announcements

by | Jan 23, 2025

President Trump is set to make his first major foreign policy announcements during an online appearance at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos on Thursday. Trump will use his virtual address to global leaders and business elites to outline his vision for international relations and U.S. leadership.

Trump’s appearance follows his social media message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, urging immediate negotiations over Ukraine or the imposition of “taxation, tariffs, and sanctions.” The president’s remarks are expected to expand on this and other global issues, setting the tone for his administration’s foreign policy.

During the live session, Trump will field questions from top industry leaders, including Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan, Blackstone Chairman Stephen Schwarzman, Banco Santander Executive Chairwoman Ana Botin, and TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanne. As a successful real estate mogul, Trump is anticipated to emphasize his business acumen alongside his political agenda.

Argentina’s libertarian President Javier Milei, one of Trump’s most vocal allies, is also scheduled to address the WEF hours before Trump’s speech. Speaking at a Bloomberg event on Wednesday, Milei praised Trump, calling his presidency a “golden era” that will inspire the world. “The golden era he proposes for the United States will shine a light for the whole world as it will spell the end of the woke ideology, which is doing so much harm to the planet,” Milei said.

Trump’s speech and subsequent dialogue are scheduled for 11 a.m. Eastern time.
