Trump Threatens to Pull Todd Blanche Nomination Over Cornyn and Tillis Block

Acting AG Todd Blanche at press conference announcing federal charges against SPLC

President Trump said Thursday he is ready to temporarily withdraw Todd Blanche’s nomination for Attorney General if Sens. John Cornyn and Thom Tillis keep refusing to vote for him.

Trump called Blanche a “STAR” who could rank among the greatest AGs ever. He noted the two senators, whom he refused to endorse and whose careers he says are already finished, are the holdouts. Blanche will stay on as Acting AG either way.

Trump reminded everyone both men voted for Merrick Garland. He said he has no objection to pulling Blanche’s name now and renominating him once Cornyn and Tillis are out of office.
