President Trump has formally submitted the nomination of acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to the U.S. Senate for confirmation as the nation’s top law enforcement official, the White House announced Monday.
The move comes days after Trump publicly indicated he intended to make Blanche’s appointment permanent.
Blanche, a former federal prosecutor who later served as one of Trump’s personal defense attorneys in several high-profile cases, has been serving as acting attorney general since April after the departure of Pam Bondi. Before assuming the role, he was confirmed by the Senate as deputy attorney general in March 2025.
His nomination now heads to the Senate, where confirmation hearings and a floor vote are expected in the coming weeks.
