President Trump said the U.S. is lifting its naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, allowing ships previously caught in the waterway to begin returning home.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said the Strait must be “immediately open” for unrestricted shipping in both directions with “no tolls,” while also calling for the removal or destruction of any remaining water mines in the area. He said U.S. forces had already destroyed “numerous such mines” and that remaining ordnance would be handled in coordination with Iran.
He said that additional, lower-priority issues had been agreed upon, without providing details. Trump added that he would be meeting in the Situation Room to make a final determination on the agreement, adding that ships affected by the blockade “may start the process of ‘heading home.’”
