President Trump has appointed the first members to his President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), a body created by executive order to advise on science and technology policy and strengthen U.S. leadership in the field.
The council will be co-chaired by David Sacks and Michael Kratsios, bringing together leaders from across the tech and business sectors. Initial appointees include Marc Andreessen, Sergey Brin, Safra Catz, Michael Dell, Jacob DeWitte, Fred Ehrsam, Larry Ellison, David Friedberg, Jensen Huang, John Martinis, Bob Mumgaard, Lisa Su, and Mark Zuckerberg.
Under Trump, the council is expected to focus on emerging technologies, workforce impacts, and broader innovation goals aimed at driving a “Golden Age of Innovation.” PCAST can include up to 24 members, with additional appointments expected in the near future alongside details on its first meeting.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the first presidential science advisory board in 1933, with successive administrations maintaining similar panels of scientists, engineers, and industry leaders.
