Trump challenges judge’s decision to remove him from Illinois primary ballot

by | Feb 29, 2024

President Trump appealed a Cook County judge's decision on Thursday barring him from the Illinois primary ballot due to his involvement in January 6, 2021.

Trump's attorneys requested that Judge Tracie Porter's decision to ban him from the state's Republican primary ballots be overturned by the Illinois Appellate Court.

Anticipating a likely appeal, Porter had placed her order on hold until Friday, but Trump's campaign wants to have her decision stayed until the Illinois Appellate Court, First District, the Illinois Supreme Court, and/or the U.S. Supreme Court fully resolves the appeal.

The date of the Illinois primary is March 19.
