Trump Appoints Richard Grenell as Interim Head of Kennedy Center

by | Feb 10, 2025

President Trump on Monday appointed Richard Grenell, his envoy for special missions, as the interim executive director of the Kennedy Center, just days after naming himself chairman of a newly formed board.

On Friday, Trump announced plans to replace multiple members of the Kennedy Center board, declaring that he would appoint a new board with himself as its leader. In response, the Kennedy Center emphasized its long-standing “collaborative relationship with every presidential administration.”

The most recent chairman of the Kennedy Center board of trustees is billionaire philanthropist David Rubenstein, co-founder of the Carlyle Group and a former policy adviser to President Carter.  Trump announced he has appointed himself as chairman to replace Rubenstein.
