Trump Administration Releases Declassified Intelligence on Election Fraud, Voting System Vulnerabilities, and Foreign Interference

by | Jul 16, 2026

President Trump announced Thursday evening that he will immediately declassify and release intelligence that reveals fraud and significant vulnerabilities in the nation’s election infrastructure.

Speaking during a primetime Oval Office address, Trump said he has for many years called for “bold, swift, and decisive action” to protect America’s elections, adding that Americans deserve confidence their votes are counted accurately in a secure system where fraud and interference are “virtually impossible.”

Trump also said officials recently discovered a “significant number” of burn bags containing information that was supposed to be destroyed after being provided by President Obama. The materials were meant to be incinerated and checked through additional procedures but that “it never happened,” adding, “maybe we got lucky.” He said he is directing the ODNI, DOJ, and FBI to investigate why the documents were placed in burn bags, who was involved, and whether criminal charges are warranted.

In his remarks, Trump said:

“The fourth set of documents reveals that even when significant evidence of fraud has been detected, it has been buried and covered up. Among the disclosures tonight are FBI files detailing evidence of alleged fraud by a large-scale voter registration operation in Michigan.

The FBI agents working on the case believe that crimes were committed yet the Biden Department of Justice slow-walked the investigation and killed it. Tonight I’m asking the FBI director to ensure the matter is fully investigated and to work with the Department of Justice to prosecute those responsible for any crimes.”

The White House has uploaded key Election Integrity documents on its new dedicated page, which opens with a statement on restoring trust after 2020 concerns. It features four pillars with downloadable ZIP archives of reports and files:

•  Vulnerabilities in Electronic Voting Systems: Declassified Intelligence Community assessments (2020–2026) detail risks from Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea to voting machines, scanners, and databases — including CIA reporting on a Venezuelan plot to digitally rig elections.

China’s Voter Data Hack: China obtained files on roughly 220 million U.S. voters and set up a dedicated exploitation unit, with claims of suppressed U.S. intelligence.

Michigan Investigation: FBI files on a 2020 raid of a get-out-the-vote group allege fraudulent registrations incentivized by gift cards and a delayed federal response.

Noncitizens on Voter Rolls: A DHS review identified about 278,000 non-citizens registered to vote (likely higher), criticizing mail-in voting and pushing for voter ID and proof-of-citizenship requirements.
