The Trump administration plans to freeze approximately $120 million in federal grants to Planned Parenthood this year, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday. The funds will be held while officials review whether any of the money was used for DEI initiatives, with an announcement expected within days.
Planned Parenthood, one of the nation’s largest abortion providers, also distributes sex change drugs, including puberty blockers. The move is part of the Trump administration’s broader effort to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent in line with its policy priorities.
“HHS is reviewing grantees to ensure compliance with President Trump’s Executive Orders,” a spokesperson for the Department of Health and Human Services told Reuters. The administration had already signaled its intention to pause grants and loans across the health sector earlier this year.
In 2023, Planned Parenthood reported performing 392,715 abortions as part of its 9.13 million total services while serving over two million patients.
