Steve Bannon’s contempt of Congress conviction upheld by appeals court

by | May 10, 2024

A federal appeals court on Friday upheld Steve Bannon's contempt of Congress conviction for disobeying a subpoena from the Jan. 6 House committee.

Bannon, who served as a senior aide in the Trump White House, was found guilty of two counts of contempt of Congress in 2022. He received a four-month prison sentence, but remained out of prison while he appealed the charges.

The US DC Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed several challenges Bannon raised in the case, including his argument that the trial court unfairly excluded evidence he believed should have been presented to the jury for his defense.
