Russian Ambassador to Washington Alexander Darchiyev will leave for the United States on Wednesday, March 26, a source told TASS.

Earlier this month, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Darchiyev, who previously led the North Atlantic Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, as ambassador to the U.S. The appointment follows an agreement reached during February 18 talks in Riyadh between Moscow and Washington, in which both sides committed to expediting the selection of ambassadors for their respective posts.
