What is a Ready Radio?

Ready Radio is a small, handheld, inexpensive, pre-programmed HAM radio. HAM radio relies on repeaters (amplified antennas) to transmit radio signals over a broad area. Repeaters are generally powered by or backed up by solar power. Your range will depend on which repeater you transmit through. Repeaters are located all over the country. They are located on towers, rooftops, mountain tops, etc. Repeaters are programmed with specific frequencies, as well as "tones" (passwords) that must be programmed into your radio in order for you to be able to utilize them for transmission. Ready Radio will research this information, and program everything into your device so it is READY to go. NOTE: An FCC HAM radio license is required to transmit. However, there are exceptions to this rule in cases of emergency. Ready Radio will help you stay in touch with your friends, family, and other contacts, in your local community and surrounding areas in the event of that emergency. It also comes with a channel guide, so you can see the applicable channel information. Get a Ready Radio for every member of your crew so you can get it touch in the event the cellular networks or power grid are down.
