President Trump Names Markwayne Mullin as Homeland Security Secretary, Kristi Noem to Serve as Special Envoy

President Trump announced Thursday that Senator Markwayne Mullin will take over as Secretary of Homeland Security at the end of the month, with current Secretary Kristi Noem transitioning to serve as Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas, a new Western Hemisphere security initiative.

 

Trump said Mullin will focus on securing the border, stopping migrant crime, combating illegal drugs, and “making America safe again.”

Mullin, a decade-long House member and three-term senator, was described by Trump as a MAGA loyalist and former undefeated professional MMA fighter with strong ties to Native American communities.
