As promised by President Trump, the National Archives on Tuesday released thousands of pages of declassified records related to the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Trump signed an executive order on January 23, directing the release of the remaining documents, stating that releasing them was in the public interest.
On Monday, Trump told reporters that the administration would start releasing the records on Tuesday, sparking a rush at the Justice Department to allocate attorneys for the declassification process.
Tuesday’s release is a remaining portion of the over six million pages of records gathered by the National Archives, most of which have already been declassified and can be accessed online or in person, according to the agency.
