Republican Rep. Mike Collins won Georgia’s GOP Senate runoff on Tuesday, defeating Derek Dooley to secure the Republican nomination and set up a November showdown with Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff.
Collins, who received President Trump’s endorsement days before the runoff, called on Republicans to unite behind his campaign, saying it was time to focus on defeating Ossoff. Republicans view the first-term senator as one of the most vulnerable Democrats up for reelection and see Georgia as a key battleground in the fight for Senate control.
In his victory speech, Collins argued that the political establishment, mainstream media, and global elites would work to keep Ossoff in office, predicting that millions of dollars would pour into Georgia from donors in New York and California to support the Democratic senator’s reelection bid. He pledged that his campaign would not be outworked.
