Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Ukraine carried out a terrorist drone attack targeting President Vladimir Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region on the night of December 29.
According to Lavrov, a total of 91 drones were launched toward the presidential residence, all of which were intercepted and destroyed by Russian air defense systems before causing damage. He characterized the operation as a reckless escalation and said it would not go unanswered.
Lavrov stated that the Russian Armed Forces have already identified targets for retaliatory strikes and determined the timing for their execution. He added that Ukraine’s actions would have direct consequences for Moscow’s diplomatic posture.
The foreign minister also said Russia would revise its negotiating position, arguing that Ukraine has shifted toward a policy of state terrorism, fundamentally altering the framework for any future talks.
