Judicial Watch announced it has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) seeking records related to Minnesota Governor and 2024 Democrat vice presidential candidate Tim Walz’s connections to the Chinese Communist Party.
The lawsuit follows DHS’s failure to respond to an October 29, 2024, FOIA request seeking:
- All documents and communications in the DHS Microsoft Teams group chat “NST NFT Bi-Weekly Sync” from July 1, 2024, to the present, including any attached files referring to Walz or his office.
- •All Intelligence Information Reports and Regional Intelligence Notes from November 1, 2023, onward related to Walz or his staff.
- •Any requests for assistance or referrals to other federal agencies regarding Walz.
The FOIA request came after House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer revealed in October that a Homeland Security whistleblower had informed the committee that Walz was a “target” of the Chinese Communist Party as “someone they can get to DC.” The whistleblower further alleged that DHS’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) had been involved in investigative or intelligence work related to Walz, the CCP, and the state of Minnesota.
“Quite simply, there is a massive cover-up of what the Deep State knows about Tim Walz’s connections to the Chinese Communist Party,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Secretary Noem should quickly release any records in response to Judicial Watch’s lawsuit.”
