Hunter Biden Agrees to Disbarment From D.C. Law Practice

by | Apr 2, 2025

Hunter Biden has agreed to be disbarred from practicing law in Washington, D.C., according to court records.

On Tuesday, Biden filed a sealed affidavit acknowledging his “consent to disbarment,” as shown by records from the D.C. Court of Appeals.

Biden’s law license was “suspended immediately from the practice of law” in Washington, D.C., in June 2024 following his felony conviction in a Delaware federal court.

The disbarment will become official if the D.C. Court of Appeals accepts the recommendation from a disciplinary agency, along with Biden’s own consent. As of Wednesday morning, Biden’s status with the Washington, D.C., bar remains listed as “Temp Disciplinary Suspension.” He has been licensed to practice law in the nation’s capital since 2007.

In June 2024, Biden was convicted of lying about his drug use while purchasing a firearm in 2018.

His father granted him a sweeping pardon, covering any offenses against the U.S. that Hunter Biden “has committed or may have committed” from Jan. 1, 2014, to Dec. 1, 2024.
