Hamas accepts Qatar and Egypt ceasefire proposal

Hamas announced on Monday that it had accepted Egypt and Qatar's proposal for a ceasefire.

Ismail Haniyeh, the Islamist faction's leader, announced in a statement that the country's prime minister and the intelligence chief in Egypt had received notification that their proposal had been accepted. No specifics were provided regarding the terms of the agreement.

An Israeli official stated that Hamas had accepted a ‘softened’ proposal, deeming it ‘unacceptable to Israel.’
