FBI Investigates Organized Coordination Behind Minnesota Riots After Leaked Chats Surface

by | Jan 26, 2026

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the bureau is investigating whether coordinated, organized activity played a role in recent riots in Minnesota following the exposure of leaked encrypted group chats that appear to show planning behind the unrest.

Independent journalist Cam Higby posted a thread on X claiming he infiltrated multiple Signal chats in Minneapolis where participants tracked federal immigration agents, shared vehicle sightings in a database, and sent real-time alerts to coordinate responses.

Patel said the FBI is examining which actions connected to the protests fall within the law and which may constitute criminal conduct, stressing that the investigation is focused on distinguishing protected protest activity from organized illegal behavior.
