FBI Director Kash Patel is expected to travel to Russia in October, with tentative plans for stops in Moscow and St. Petersburg on Oct. 14 and 15, according to a U.S. official and another person familiar with the matter.
Patel is expected to be hosted by Russia’s Federal Security Service, the U.S. official said.
It remains unclear whether Patel will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin or senior Kremlin officials, or what issues would be discussed. The plans are tentative and subject to change.
The last known FBI director to visit Russia was Robert Mueller in 2013, who was later appointed special counsel to investigate the Russian Collusion hoax.
