FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that a criminal investigation is underway into federal personnel involved in the “Arctic Frost” probe, which targeted allies of President Trump and swept up the phone records of multiple members of Congress.
Patel said those responsible will face accountability, saying “I’m not going to let people get off the hook or get a hall pass.” Patel disclosed the investigation during an interview with Just The News, where he also discussed reforms inside the bureau. He said the FBI and Justice Department are working to dismantle long-running political abuses of investigative power and restore a crime-focused mission.
Patel said accountability for Arctic Frost, the Russia collusion investigation, and the Mar-a-Lago raid is central to changing the FBI’s culture, arguing these actions were driven by entrenched leadership practices over decades. He also pointed to a shift toward transparency, noting that the bureau has produced 40,000 pages of documents to Congress this year alone after years of stonewalling.
